Hon Hai Industry Co. (also known as Foxconn Technology Group) new demonstration plant in Guiyang, Guizhou Province, China has begun production on Dec. 15, 2013, according to a report by Chinanews.com. The new plant which took four months to construct will be establishing production lines for TV, LED streetlamps and electronic whiteboards.

According to the report the plant will mostly be manufacturing mid to large sized television, electronic whiteboards and LED lamps. The demonstration plant’s sales channel, another Hon Hai subsidiary in Guizhou covers new electronic components, electronics and Internet equipment sales. Annual operating revenue is expected to reach RMB 543 million (US$ 97.72 million).

The new plant is located in China West Technology Park, a science park in the Jinyang New District of the city of Guiyang, China. The plant is set up through a joint venture between two Hon Hai subsidiaries in Guizhou Province, with a unique business model that vertically integrates product manufacturing, sales, and shops.

Guizhou Province and Hon Hai signed a strategic cooperation agreement in July this year during the Eco Forum Global Annual Conference Guiyang 2013. The two parties agreed on advancing cooperation in the fields of electronic communication, trade, and other fields.

“Our investment in Guizhou is a long term investment, and we plan reach the goal of creating 50,000 local jobs,” said Hon Hai Chairman Terry Guo during an interview in July in Guiyang. “We will be fully utilizing Guizhou’s rich labor resources, and enable employment of local citizens.”
