Lighting supplier and manufacturer, LED Waves, is pleased to announce some changes to the Rio Grande™ Waterproof Flexible LED Strip Light. This best-selling strip is especially popular among professional lighting designers for its sturdy, DIY-friendly construction, and for the extremely high lumen output of its LEDs. These qualities (which best lend the Rio Grande to edge-lit signage and retail displays, cove lighting, and other applications requiring a powerful indirect light source) will remain unchanged.

LED Waves has increased the length of the spools from 3 meters (approximately 9.8 feet) to 5 meters (approximately 16.4 feet) with bare wire ends. This was a response to customers who typically ordered multiples of these flexible LED light strips and connected them together in larger lighting installations.

Designed for outdoor and indoor wet installations such as bar lighting, the Rio Grande™ comes with a removable waterproof silicon sleeve. LED Waves has sourced a new, clearer silicon blend for this material, resulting in slightly higher light transmission without compromising its IP65 protection rating. The Rio Grande™ comes with silicon glue and end caps to create a watertight seal (the silicon sleeve may be removed altogether, allowing users to access the 3M tape on the back of the strip for easier installation in dry locations).

In anticipation of higher order volumes for their new and improved strip, LED Waves has secured large quantities of these components. This afforded the company a significant bulk discount, which they are passing on to their customers in the form of a US $100-price drop – combined with the longer length per unit. At over 300 lumens per foot, the Rio Grande™ now offers unprecedented value in the LED strip lighting market.
